Role / Brand Lead & Brand Manager

Garden of Goodness is a health-focused food brand created around nutritious, sustainable and genuinely enjoyable food choices.

As Brand Lead and Brand Manager, I helped shape the brand from its strategic foundations through to its visual identity, messaging and customer-facing communication. My role brought together market research, audience understanding, brand positioning, creative direction and integrated marketing to create a more cohesive and recognisable brand.

The objective was to build a brand that could communicate health and sustainability without feeling overly clinical, restrictive or disconnected from the enjoyment of food.

The Challenge

The health and wellness market is highly competitive, with many brands using similar language around nutrition, quality & conscious living.

Garden of Goodness needed a clear position that could distinguish it from generic wellness brands while remaining approachable, credible and commercially relevant.

The key challenges included:

  • Defining a clear and differentiated brand position

  • Identifying the most relevant customer audiences

  • Creating messaging that balanced nutrition, sustainability and enjoyment

  • Establishing a cohesive visual identity

  • Building consistency across digital, social and marketing touchpoints

  • Creating a content system that could support long-term brand growth

  • Ensuring internal teams and external partners were aligned around one brand direction

Brand Identity & Visual System

The visual identity was designed to feel fresh, optimistic and contemporary while supporting the brand’s focus on health, sustainability and quality.

The system included:

  • Logo and supporting marks

  • Typography

  • Colour palette

  • Graphic elements

  • Image and photography direction

  • Layout principles

  • Social media styling

  • Digital applications

  • Campaign assets

  • Brand templates

The visual direction balanced natural and wellness-led cues with a more polished and distinctive brand presence, ensuring Garden of Goodness could feel credible without becoming overly corporate.

Brand Guidelines & Playbook

To support consistency and long-term growth, I created a comprehensive brand playbook that brought together the strategic and visual foundations of Garden of Goodness.

The guide included:

  • Brand purpose and positioning

  • Audience personas

  • Brand values

  • Brand personality

  • Messaging hierarchy

  • Tone of voice

  • Logo use

  • Typography

  • Colour

  • Image direction

  • Graphic elements

  • Layout guidance

  • Content principles

  • Social media direction

  • Brand application examples

The playbook provided internal stakeholders and external collaborators with a clear reference point for maintaining the brand across future campaigns and customer touchpoints.

Brand Messaging & Tone of Voice

A clear messaging framework was developed to ensure the brand communicated consistently across all customer touchpoints.

The tone of voice was designed to be:

  • Positive

  • Knowledgeable

  • Encouraging

  • Clear

  • Inclusive

  • Down-to-earth

  • Purpose-led without being preachy

Messaging pillars were established around nutrition, sustainability, taste, convenience and everyday wellbeing.

This gave the brand a practical structure for developing campaign copy, social content, product messaging and customer communications.

Integrated Marketing

The brand strategy was translated into integrated marketing activity across multiple channels.

Each campaign needed to reinforce the wider brand position while still responding to specific commercial and communication objectives.

The focus was on creating a connected brand experience rather than treating each platform as a separate design exercise.

Social Media & Content Strategy

I developed a structured content approach designed to build recognition, communicate brand value and create a stronger relationship with the audience.

This created a clearer balance between promotional content, education and brand storytelling.

The content system also gave the brand a more consistent visual and verbal presence across social channels.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

The brand direction needed to work across design, sales, marketing, digital and production.

I collaborated with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure the brand strategy and creative direction were applied consistently across:

  • Digital platforms

  • Marketing campaigns

  • Customer communications

  • Product and production requirements

  • Sales activity

  • Content development

  • Brand partnerships

This involved translating strategic thinking into practical guidance that different teams could use in their day-to-day work.

Brand Management & Performance

My role extended beyond initial brand development into ongoing brand management.

This included:

  • Reviewing brand performance

  • Monitoring campaign engagement

  • Evaluating audience response

  • Identifying opportunities for improvement

  • Adjusting content and campaign activity

  • Managing marketing priorities

  • Overseeing budget allocation

  • Reporting brand initiatives to stakeholders

  • Maintaining consistency across new creative output

This ensured that Garden of Goodness continued to evolve while remaining aligned with its core strategy and values.

The Outcome

The project established a clearer and more cohesive foundation for Garden of Goodness.

The work brought together brand positioning, customer understanding, visual identity, messaging and integrated marketing within one connected system.

The resulting brand framework provided:

  • A clearer market position

  • Defined customer personas

  • A consistent visual identity

  • Stronger messaging and tone of voice

  • A structured content strategy

  • Greater consistency across channels

  • A practical brand playbook for future rollout

  • A stronger foundation for campaigns, partnerships and growth
